Department of Education
Education is paramount in the United States. Our kids are the future of this country and that same sentiment was expressed back in the latter part of the 1800’s when the Department of Education was established as part of the United States government.
The year was 1867 to be exact when the Department of Education was first created. Since that time, the United States government has created and recreated many components that make up the department. As times change, so does education and how children learn. Many years ago, children who were labeled retarded, deaf or autistic were shunned and sent to institutions because they were considered “dumb.”
Luckily, the Department of Education recognized that each child was unique and learned in different ways. Now, many times, the department disagreed on some issues and held conflicting views but one thing never has changed. The Department of Education emphasized that no child should be left behind in their education. Every provision should be made within reason to ensure that every child gets an education.
One of the things that the Department of Education instituted was the availability to ride a bus to school at no additional cost to the child. In addition, the home schooling option was instituted for those kids with special learning needs whether they have mental or physical impairments and could not attend school.
The Department of Education even provides a number of loans to students for college. Through their financial intervention, many students who otherwise could not afford college are getting degrees and becoming productive members of society.
Many people don’t agree with some of what the United States government does, but one thing is for sure. No one complains too much about the Department of Education. They make decisions that are in the best interests of our children’s futures.
