Learn Chinese
Chinese is a language that many people may feel intimidated by because the alphabet is so different from the English alphabet and sounds and looks alien to us. Just trying to figure out how those odd symbols translate into a spoken language can be mind boggling, however, if you want to learn Chinese, it may be a little less difficult than you might have imagined, especially once you master the basic rules. It also can help quite a bit to have a conversation partner to help you to practice spoken Chinese.
Chinese is completely different from English is quite a few ways. The alphabet, the pronunciation of words and the rules for the language itself are all different. To learn Chinese, you will probably want to learn the Chinese alphabet first, especially if you plan on reading or writing Chinese. However, there is a huge difference between reading and writing Chinese, so these two skills may need to be learned separately, especially if you want to do more than just speak the language.
To properly learn Chinese, you need to realize that one word that looks the same when it is written down can have completely different meanings depending on how the word is said. Usually, these words don’t just mean different things when spoken; the way the word is said changes it into a completely different word. It is very true that to learn Chinese can be a difficult process, but if you have the time and mental energy to spend on learning this new language, you will have accomplished quite a bit.
The ability to learn Chinese will vary with each person. Usually however, persistence can pay off in the end for even those who have a hard time learning this new skill. Once you understand the basic rules and structure of the Chinese alphabet, you will be able to learn Chinese more easily, and in the end you will have mastered a new skill that many will never learn.
