Online Higher Education
Learn how an online college can save you both TIME and MONEY compared to a four year school!
Online higher education is also known as cyber distance school, literally meaning a method of learning college and university level studies/degrees that is done away from the main classroom through the use of Internet and varied computer technology, using cyber distance or online education schools/colleges/universities. Students are able to learn in their own chosen environment, sometimes choose the hours and times they study, at their own pace, submit their assignments via email, communicate with their teachers or tutors via email, do tests and exams either in class or via the Internet, and are able to use a far broader range of learning methods than regular students. These learning methods are used by other cyber distance or online education schools, and include regular course books and papers, websites, and even field trips to related places.
Countries like the United Kingdom have been using distance learning through distance education schools for many years, as has Germany for higher education. However, the use of the Internet and email for higher education is not as wide spread in these areas because the majority of households do not have computers and regular Internet services. In North America, like their British and German counterparts, online higher education is now very common, due to the widespread use and ownership of computers, and Internet access, and online higher education schools/colleges/universities are in abundance, as are the numbers of students that are educated by them. Both Germany and Britain use the ‘Open University’ higher education schools’ systems whereby television programming designed for the courses are shown everyday, morning and night, and are accessible even for those not on the course. Television broadcasting companies like the BBC run the programming side of ‘Open University’ in the United Kingdom. This system has been in place for over 35 years, and the degrees awarded are recognized worldwide, including masters and doctorates. In North America, over the past eight years, this trend has also taken hold, but has been further advanced by the use of online higher education.
