Physical Education
Perhaps one of the most important classes a child will take during their schooling is physical education. It is more than just a class where you do physical activities. Physical education plays a pivotal part in the growth of your child. While lessons in the classroom help feed and exercise the brain, physical education feeds and exercises both the brain and body.
The physical education classes in school these days are tailored specifically for each individual age group. Each teacher of physical education understands what their age group of students is capable of and plans their lessons accordingly based on their current athletic ability as well as motor skills. For instance, a class of kindergartners would not be ready to tackle football or volleyball in physical education class but they could play kickball or soccer.
The important part of physical education is to just keep the kids interested. It doesn’t necessarily matter what activity it is as long as they are exercising. In this day and age where kids watch too much television, play too many video games and eat a lot of junk food, they are becoming sedentary and overweight. Getting them out of the house and active is perhaps the hardest part. That is why physical education should also be fun for them. It needs to engage them. A physical education class both in and out of the school classroom should also incorporate segments about nutrition, diets, training and general overall fitness.
