Preschool Curriculum

A study plan for children who are not yet of school-going age, is known as a preschool curriculum. These children are also known as preschoolers and are usually younger than age five. The preschool curriculum involves learning through activities and exploration. It should provide an outline of the learning goals for the child. Utilizing crafts, colors, puzzles, games and toys are all essential in implementing preschool curriculum. The use of sight and sound, field trips and interactive sessions are also equally important.

Preschool curriculum needs to be the right mix of education and entertainment so that the young children are kept engrossed in whatever they do all the time they are in preschool. Preschool curriculum is available readymade. But you can also choose to build your own preschool curriculum. But this would take a great deal of time, research and effort. If you decide to opt for the latter option, first make a checklist to evaluate your child’s strengths and weaknesses according to his or her developmental stage.

You could choose to have monthly themes based on ideas such as seasons, art, music, animals or even the alphabet. As you make up the curriculum you will also need to check and make sure you can get appropriate resources to accompany the themes you choose for each month or any other plan. Once you have the whole plan in hand, make a list of all the supplies you will need for the various craft projects and other related activities. 

You can even make use of things that you might have otherwise discarded as waste. For example cereal boxes, used white paper, plastic lids and boxes, rubber bands, craft sticks, and brown paper bags can all be used to make new and creative artifacts. It should keep you and your child occupied and busy for many hours.
