Real Estate Classes

Every state has its own requirement for the licensing of real estate agents and many realtors offer real estate classes to help potential sales professionals meet those demands.

There are three basic parts of the real estate market requiring a license, real estate, the listing a sales of land or houses; appraisal, the learning of how to determine a house’s value within the market and home inspection, to determine what needs a house may need to be fit for sale.

Most real estate brokers have one or more of these licensed professional on staff to be able to accomplish all aspects of a real estate deal in-house. Many homebuyers, however will seek an independent opinion on the value and condition of a house instead of taking the word of one broker.

There are minimum requirements, varying state-by-state for pre-licensing of agents, averaging about 60 hours, during which legal demands concerning contracts and other state-specific regulations are taught. This normally will involve attending real estate classes before even considering taking a licensing exam.

The Association of Real Estate License Law Organization oversees legal matters for realtors and sets certain standards for them to follow. These policies are set as overall restrictions and will never overrule state laws concerning the sales of real estate.

Once a person has completed pre-licensing studies they can apply to the state in which they live and take the exam. Upon successful passing of the test, they ca receive their license to sell real estate from a broker’s office. An exception to the license requirement is licensed attorneys and, in some state, those with a four-year degree in real estate.

Opening an individual office requires a broker’s license and additional real estate classes can prepare prospective brokers as well. About 72 more hours on real estate classes as well as having an active license for a state-specific period of time is a prerequisite for taking the broker’s exam.
