Typing Lesson
If you did not have a typing lesson in high school or college, but now you use a computer every day, you will be surprised how much typing lessons can help. Rather than sitting there, picking and choosing the keys you need, you will find that typing lessons help you type quicker and save you time.
What can you expect to learn during a typing lesson? You will learn proper placement of your fingers on the keys. You must have your fingers in the proper position to learn to type. You will also learn which fingers to use to press which keys. It may feel awkward at first and you may want to resort to your “hunt and peck” method of typing, but give it time. Eventually with practice, it will become second nature to you. One of the hardest parts of typing lessons is learning to trust your fingers and not look at the keyboard to see which keys they are typing.
An important part of typing lessons is to learn to position your body properly too. You should have your fingers curved and upright on the keys. Your wrist should be low, but not touching the keyboard. Your forearms should be parallel to the keyboard. You should have a straight back, not hunched over the keyboard. And have your feel on the floor. Proper positioning of your body can help prevent back strain and carpel tunnel syndrome.
If you have school-aged kids, encourage them to take a typing lesson if they can. In this day and age of computers, it will be necessary skill for everyone in the future!
