Writing Curriculum
Schools that have teachers that practice on writing skills with students will have to come up with a writing curriculum to go by. This will help keep everyone on the same path and keep everyone focused on writing. You can come up with many ways to get the students to write on a daily basis. If you come up with an interesting subject then you are more and likely to grab the student's interest. If you aren't to sure about what topics to write on, you could always ask other teachers about what they have their students write about.
If you decide to let them do the work at home, then it could allow more time for other things for you to go over in class. Your writing curriculum could also consist of ways for the students to express themselves through poetry. At first it may take a while for the students to get a feel for writing poetry, but in time they will get the feel of how it should go without really any thought. It would help if you let the students read some poetry of others. Either from books, or by reading their own personal poetry during class time. Once you start seeing the positive progress of your students, you will be glad that you took the time to make out a great writing curriculum.
